Robert Henry

vocals

One of the most skilled session singers in the UK and also an accomplished actor. In addition to touring with his own outfit, Freaking Habit Form, he has tutored students singing and drama skills at Keele University and at several other performing arts schools in the UK.

 

Enrique Bringas Puente

vocals/percussion

 

From Santiago de Cuba, he toured as a dancer with Pachito y su Kini Kini and Los Van Van and was part of the latter's choreography team. Now based in London, he worked initially as a salsa dance teacher before concentrating on a singing career.  He has sung with Cubanito, Caminia & Iraye and Ritmo Caliente. A gifted songwriter/rapper, he is one of the few who writes salsa lyrics in English.

Jorge Trujillo

vocals/percussion

Born in Ecuador, he worked with top salsa bands in Holland and Belgium before coming to London in 1995. He went on to tour the UK and Europe with London-based Latin bands Chiva Riva and Orquesta Caché. His recent addition to the Motimba line-up has added a new exciting dimension to the vocal force.

Kishon Khan

MD/piano

Kishon is well established on the World Music and Latin-Jazz scenes as a performer, composer and arranger. He became hooked on Cuban timba and salsa after spending eight  months studying and playing with top musicians in Havana.  Amongst others, he has worked with Ayub Ogada (Realworld),  Captain Yaaba (Fab), African Bushman (Mercury), Francis Fuster (Paul Simon) and Bukky Leo (Fela Kuti).

 

Patrick Zambonin

bass

He graduated from the American Institute of Music in Vienna in 1995. Subsequently he has played and recorded with various funk and fusion projects (including his own trio) in Austria, Switzerland, Germany and Italy and toured Turkey with Selen Gülün (Jazz Originals). In 1997, Patrick studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, under Oscar Stagnaro - one of the world's leading Latin bass players.

Gabriel Nuzzoli

Played with artists as diverse as Ricky Martin, Keziah Jones, Jesus Alemañy (Cubanismo), and Robin Jones at prestigious events such as the Brit Awards, Phoenix Festival, Bremen Jazz Festival and London Jazz Festival. He has also toured Europe with the top Italian rock band 883 and performed on ITV, GLR Radio, Kiss FM and MTV. In '95/'96 Gabriel was sponsored by the Arts Council to study and play music in Cuba.

 

Rafael Sarmiento

Has a wealth of experience playing with top Latin bands, both in his native Colombia and the UK, notably with Roberto Pla  and Luisito Mosquera. The interchange between his congas and the rest of the rhythm section is a treat.

Justin Thurgur

trombone/vocals

Graduated in 1995 with a degree in Music and History, he has also studied music in Cuba. He has played with many outfits including Gbedu Resurrection, the Afro-Beat band led by Dele Sosimi (former keyboardist for both Fela and Femi Kuti) and Fuzz Against Junk (Nuphonic). Justin is also a highly reputed teacher tutoring young jazz-funk outfits to perform live in the UK and abroad.

 

Graeme Flowers

Graduated from the London College of Music in 1999 and, although only 21, already has an enviable list of credits. Amongst others he has worked with Latin bands King Salsa, Cubana Bop and Paz, and collaborated with acts such as Lisa Stansfield, Ronan Keating (Boyzone) and Dina Carroll.
